Pony Bravo

Biography

Pony Bravo was formed in Seville, Spain in 2006. They released their first album, "Si bajo de espalda no me da miedo (y otras historias) " (El Rancho, 2008) after recording some demos. It was included in several of "the best of the year lists" by the Spanish specialized press (Rockdelux, Mondosonoro, Go-Mag, etc.) and "El Rayo" was selected as one of the best national songs by Rockdelux' readers. Among their most recent international tour dates we can highlight El Cairo, Buenos Aires, Budapest and Caracas and festivals like Primavera Sound, Territorios Sevilla, Emergencia Fest, Lemon Day or Sonorama. Daniel Alonso, Darío del Moral, Javier Rivera and Pablo Peña formed El Rancho Casa de Discos, a record label based in Seville, in 2008 to manage their projects. They launched a new act in March, 2010, “Fiera” and they started the recording of their second album, "Un gramo de fe" (El Rancho, 2010), in September of that same year (relesaed in November 2010). Za! and Fran Torres collaborated on material for the album and it was recorded, mixed and produced by Raul Pérez at La Mina, their recording studio. Pony Bravo’s sound combines traditional Andalusian music like flamenco or copla with modern popular music in a natural way. In their work Ennio Morricone’s soundtracks, psychedelic rock, and 80’s new wave and post-punk (Devo, Talking Heads and Pere Ubu are key influences. They are brilliantly dialogued with flamenco masters like Manolo Caracol, 70's Andalusian rock (especially bands like Triana or Veneno) and Spanish new wave bands like Radio Futura and Derribos Arias. Pony Bravo is redefining, alongside other bands like Orthodox, Sr. Chinarro and Los Planetas, the shape of Andalusian music to come: roots music for a new millennium. http://www.enelrancho.com Read more on Last.fm.
