Dominic is an entertainer. Although he is more than competent on most musical instruments, Dominic’s main talent is with the guitar – both electric and acoustic. He has a style compared to ‘Elvis meets Sinatra’; very vintage yet contemporary. But however you may wish to categorise his voice, whether singing a ballad with a silky smoothness, or a rock and roll classic in authentic ‘50s style, Dominic always leaves his audiences wanting more. With his father in the RAF, Dominic lived in many different places as a child. But wherever they were, there were always great house parties, where friends would enjoy records from the likes of Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Elvis Presley, Louis Prima and Frank Sinatra. Dominic was allowed to stay up late if he changed the records on the record player. So that was where Dominic’s love for music of that type originated. From a young age, Dominic knew he wanted to be a musician and at the tender age of 15 put together his first band – a rockabilly band called Rocking Red Roosters – playing local gigs in and around Manchester where Dominic was living at the time. He had various ‘day’ jobs but music was always his real passion. In his early twenties, Dominic decided to move to Australia where he met some other musicians with the same passion for music and formed a band, eventually known as Dominic Halpin & The Suspects, who became well respected throughout the Sydney area, becoming regular entertainers at the Sydney Harbour Casino. In 2005, Dominic returned to the UK – back to the Manchester area – and met up with friend and saxophone player Nigel McGill. Between them, they put together swing band Dominic Halpin & The Honey B’s. Since bursting onto the scene, Dominic Halpin & The Honey B’s have established themselves as one of the most in-demand acts in the UK. With an impressive list of show dates - from Blenheim Palace to a headline show at the Abu Dhabi International Jazz Festival - and a client list including Simon Cowell, Elle McPherson and The Savoy, London, their energetic floor show and swingin’ rhythms have entertained audiences not only throughout the UK, but also all over the world. As well as performing, Dominic has written many songs and musical pieces, some of which have been used in foreign media. In 2007, his music featured on the Hollywood film Dorm Daze II and has also appeared in several American television series, including Brothers and Sisters and MTV’s hit show Runs House. Dominic’s version of ‘Sway’ was recently used in a new Russian film ‘Hitler Kaput’ and is also available on the soundtrack. Dominic’s creativity is not limited to writing songs. He has produced recordings and videos for many local artists. For one of his self-penned songs – ‘Senor Blue’ – Dominic wrote, directed, produced and edited the video which has scored many hits on You Tube. He has also undertaken projects to produce videos for a number of corporations. Career Highlights With The Suspects – Being invited in 1998 to perform on the inaugural cruise on what was, at that time, the largest cruise liner in the world – the Grand Princess.
