Born in El Tambo, Peru, in September 24th, 1957, José "Tongo" Abelardo Gutiérrez Alanya has began his music career in 1981 with the formation of his first band, Grupo Imaginación. Around 2010, Tongo started doing parodies of famous songs, like "Baby and "Let It Be", but it was just in 2016, when he released a parody of System of a Down's "Chop Suey!" on his Youtube channel, that he became internationally famous. With more than 18 million views, the videoclip also cemented the "Tonglish" — a mix of Peruvian Spanish, English, and unkown words he created himself — which he is now known for.
