The Poppers

Biography

The Poppers got together in August of 2000, at Olivais, one of the many suburbs in Lisbon. Few months passed by until the first recording session took place, which, after a while, was overwhelmed due to the constant evolution of the band. With new music in their pockets and with a strong wish to perform Live, they returned to the studio and recorded a new demo-tape. The sound of this demo, which includes the song "Your Letter", in the "Rise Up" compilation/sound track, got the attention of the British Editor Matchbox Recordings. After some TV shows and some pretty good comments published on Blitz, Rock Sound Magazine, and others regarding the Demo, the Poppers began a little tour in many well known places in Lisbon, such as HardRock Cafe and also Santiago Alquimista, where their success was granted. With this album The Poppers got people's attention and performed in many places all around the country Porto, Evora, Esposende, Arganil, Sintra, Gondomar, Lousa, Lisboa and Corroios. Winning the spot light in one of the best and most challenging Music Festivals The Festival of Modern Music in Corroios The Poppers got the prize of recording an EP which became of interest to some National broadcasting Stations Radar and Antena 3 to our Spanish Neighbors and also to a North American promoter. The EP allowed them the possibility of being part of shows with bands like Cla and Blind Zero and also the opportunity of performing at the FNAC Stores all over the country and where the audience reception was greatly rewarding. In addition to this pleasant success, great motivation raised and new songs were born, leading The Poppers to Viana do Castelo at the beginning of this year, in January, to start recording with Paulo Miranda Amp Studio their first long term album, with scheduled edition for June 17th 2006.
