Santo Machango

Biography

It all started in Barcelona in 2006, when a bunch of friends from different bands came up with the idea of forming a band that would fuse different musical genres, have fun, and charm audiences with a fresh sound and original style. In the years since, the band has seen several changes to both its repertoire and the definition of its essential sound. Influences from Funk, Hip-hop, Reggae, Soul, Latin and even Pop and Rock make up the base of the band’s songs, thus creating a unique and eclectic personality. Rap vocals make their way through this “fresh and urban” sound, while soulful rhymes tell stories about sympathetic characters, real experiences, and various aspects of today’s social situation, all from a positive and enthusiastic perspective. SANTO MACHANGO also delivers highly compelling live performances that have helped to boost the band’s popularity significantly. Its members have been asked to perform at major festivals like Arenal Sound 2011, Puro Cuatro, Chaffestival or Rock Villa Madrid, as well as in several band contests where they have won various awards, including Best Live Act (Centre Civic Sarria – Barcelona) and Best Unplugged Performace (Centre Garcilaso – Barcelona). Currently comprised of Atturchayayne García “Attur” (vocals), Román Viera (vocals), Daniel Navarrera “Daro” (drums), Rodolfo Espina “Fito” (guitar), Yeray Déniz (bass), Ferran Ribot (sax) and Jordi Sanz (percussion). SANTO MANCHAGO has just released its first full-length album entitled “Dopamina,” recorded at Producciones Silvestres, and produced by the renowned Tomi Perez (La Mala Rodriguez, Maldita Nerea, 7 notas 7 colores, Nena Daconte, etc.) who has effectively provided the band with an extra fresh and spontaneous touch in the studio. The album also features remarkable collaborations by Paquito Sex Machine (Fundacion Tony Manero), Khaoula Bouchkhi (vocals) and Sergio Contreras (trumpet). SANTO MACHANGO is on a promotional tour for the album and working on a media campaign to share its work with supporters and the general public. Read more on Last.fm.
