There are at least 2 bands who go by the name Projector: 1) a Brighton UK based three piece Alt Rock/Indie act and 2) a Mexican Trip-hop act. 1) A three piece band hailing from Brighton in the U.K. and featuring Edward Ensbury on guitar/vocals, Lucy Sheehan on bass/vocals and Callum Marinho (who replaced Demelza Mather in late 2019) on drums. Projector occupy the heavy space between brooding 1980s darkwave and My Bloody Valentine's wall-of-sound pop; a combination tone of Goo era Sonic Youth and Pixies pulled together with an industrial Joy Division pulse. They are currently signed to Roadkill Records who have issued their last 2 singles. So far they have released a number of digital singles - Love (Feb 2017 and reissued in Oct 2017 with Dreaming as a double a-side), Just The Once/Germs (June 2017), Break Your Own Heart (March 2018), I Am Shamed (July 2018), Full Circle (Oct 2018), Go Ahead (Apr 2019), Superstar (Sept 2019). And 1 vinyl single - How Does It Feel? (Nov 2018) 2) Trip-hop mexican band from Guadalajara influenced by bands such as Portishead and Daughter Darling, Projector is defined as a mix of trip-hop rythms, traditional mexican sounds, salsa, boleros, and mariachi; following the works of San Pascualito Rey and La Barranca. Lyrics, urban sounds samples, or fragments of old mexican movies take the audience in a sonic trip full of mellancollie and bittersweetness. These elements found in the music create an interesting fusion between modern rythms and elementos of mexican folklore.
