There are several bands called Malatesta. 1) german ska band (1995-2001) Malatesta was a SkaSkunk-Band from Berlin-Köpenick. Lineup of the band was: Marek (Vocals&Percussion), Jimmy (Gitarre), Kai aka K.Lypse (Guitar&Vocals), Stephan (Keyboard), Kubi (Bass) and Gordon (Drums). Especially through playing a lot of concerts, Malatestas fanbase growed rapidly. Remindable concerts took place at ALLeins, Horn and at the first Aposkalypse in July 1999. After the release of the EP "Thats Skunk Beat", which was only published on cassette, the band released the album "SkunkBeat" in 2000. 2) german experimental / noise rock band (1999-still active) Malatesta started in 1999 with the initial line up of Pepè (ex-Carnival of Souls) , Le Belge and the talents of Marek Janiak on guitar and Sebastian Till on drums. A demo entitled "When Orange Rain Comes Down" was quickly recorded. The original line-up only lasted a few months and Janiak and Till soon left and were replaced by Smasch (ex-S.A.D.O.) and Andreas Ebsen. Ebsen brought along another guitar player, Christian "Chrispine" Vahlbruch (also of Fleischsalat-fame), before eventually leaving the band too (he later became the guitarist in the band of Diane Weigman). With this line-up malatesta made their live debut (deep within a spooky forest), recorded another demo, "Latex Gloves/Rubber Strings" and played several highly energetic gigs locally. After the departure of Chrispine (who joined Debauchery and Highheel Horndogs) Börge (currently also playing with Nimmersatt Brothers) joined the band in September 2008, thus creating the current line-up. A new release is slated for 2011. 3) german screamo band (2006-2008) Malatesta was a band from Berlin. Timo played drums, Thomas and Rob both played guitar and Karim played bass. They existed from sepember 06 to jan 08. Their music was described by most people as screamo, they recorded a 7 song demo and played some shows. Members were/are also active in bands like telekolleg and syn*error. 4) french ska punk/ska-core band (2007-still active) In 2008 they released 4-track demo "Ne Souriez Plus..." 5) DIY Political screamo band from Bloomington, Indiana (2004-2005) In 2005, they recorded at Russian Recording and self-released a 4 song CD. Opened for a wide range of bands including Mare, Fifth Hour hero, Mass Movement of the Moth, and Asschapel. Read more on Last.fm.
