Las Migas

Biography

Since the beginning of their join venture they have been known as a band capable of filling large theaters, as a band also that stands out at the major world music festivals. The year 2011 has been a crucial year for Las Migas, they start now an amazing new stage with their new cantaora, Alba Carmona. Theirs is an uncommon story. And as a reflection of that essence, their style is also unique. Giving to flamenco a new and unexpected new flavor. Do they sound as a flamenco band? More than any other genre, of course. But their music stands at the crossroad of the most heterodox sounds. Their roots are flamenco, but they add echoes of the gypsy and the latin and most of all, the Mediterranean. The young catalan cantaora Alba Carmona (known for her work with Chano Domínguez, Perico Sambeat and film director Carlos Saura) is joined by the german born Lisa Bause on the violin (and occasional accordion) and on the guitars by the sevillian Marta Robles and the french Isabelle Laudenbach. The show presents the band accompanied by José López on the bass and Manuel Masaedo on the percussion. Before the incorporation of Alba Carmona, the voice of the band was Sílvia Pérez Cruz, a founder member of the band in 2004. This last July Silvia left to focus on her first solo album. May 2010 Las Migas released "Reinas del Matute" (Nuevos Medios) so far their only album. They did it with the acclaimed producer from the "indie-pop" scene, Raül Fernández "Refree". They are working now on their most awaited second album with the repertoire that they are presenting on stage. Feminine and plural, Las Migas don't give up their very singular identity. They amaze audiences with their brand new show and most of all with the new repertoire, more flamenco than ever. Traditional and innovative, Mediterranean and modern, they simply are unique in their sound. (Biography supplied by artist management 2011) Read more on Last.fm.
