Biography

Immortal Onion – trio, with: Ziemowit Klimek – double bass / bass guitar / electronics, Tomir Śpiołek – grand piano / e-piano , Wojtek Warmijak – drums. The band was founded in spring 2016, and it was signed by Requiem Records in 2017. Having won the „Jazz phonographic debut” competition, as well as a City of Gdansk Culture Scholarship, the group released their first album in July 2017. The long-play, entitled „Ocelot of Salvation” had its premiere at the Warsaw Summer Jazz Days festival, opening the festival with Kamasi Washington. The premiere concert in Gdańsk occured at Jazz Jantar festival. The trio performed its original material at many venues, among others at the 41st Gdynia Film Festival Awards ceremony. Their close relationship with the movie industry goes even beyond that, as they have also created and performed live improvised scores to two animation movies: at the II International Animation Film Festival in Gdansk and at the 17th Silent Film Festival at the award-winning „Kino Pod Baranami” in Cracow. The band also had a pleasure to participate in 35th anniversary of Mayoness Guitars among such artists as Federico Malaman, Maurizio Rolli, Hadrien Feraud. The inspiration for the band formation were, to name just a few, Esbjörn Svensson, Hiromi Uehara and Tigran Hamasyan, In terms of genre, Immortal Onion offers a bold combination of many seemingly remote styles – jazz, film music, minimalism as well as fusion, electronic music and even progressive metal. The unique sound of the group originates from the stylistic variety, and skillful combination of rhythmically complex, energetic riffs with minimalistic, trans beats and lyrical themes.
