Grief Ritual’s seething brand of viscerally unrelenting post-metal tinged blackened metallic hardcore has seen them leave a lasting impression on anyone who has witnessed their genre-blending miseryscapes live. Based in the South West and Midlands, UK, and with an approach that sees ferociously crushing heaviness contrast with ephemeral moments of bleak grim dread, they have been described as "a nuanced exploration of caustic catharsis" by The Quietus, and appearances at Bloodstock Open Air Festival and the Arctangent x 2000 Trees event ‘80Trees' have followed. In the summer of 2022, they will appear at 2000 Trees Festival and Dreadfest, but first February brings a support slot to Knocked Loose and Terror. It will also see Grief Ritual's debut single ‘Dissolution’ arrive, produced by Joe Clayton (Curse These Metal Hands / Pijn / Leeched). ‘Dissolution’ is a sonic slab of obsidian bile and claustrophobic filth that acts a world-weary lament against the destructive and toxic cycle of capitalistic ‘work hard/play hard’ and ‘love work/love life’ attitudes that are so prevalent in dysfunctional modern employment.
