Biography

"Dhuna means an obsession - obsessive about music" http://www.dhuna.pl http://www.facebook.com/dhunamusic http://www.soundcloud.com/dhuna http://www.myspace.com/dhuna "DHUNA means an obsession - obsessive about music" Is a four-piece band originating from Poland and now based in London, UK. Their music is a blend of psychedelic, electronic chill, fused with the ethnic vocals of Rena Biring (Psibindi), tribal percussion sounds from Dariusz Zaczkowski (Dziki), and ethnic waves from Emil Sochacki. Composed and arranged by pianist and synth maestro Dariusz Stawicki, DHUNA set the psychedelic world alight with their deep, spiritual electronic music and will take you on an alluring journey, through a myriad of hypnotic rhythms, groove percussions, ethnic sounds and soothing vocals. The different compositions create melodic soundscape for your ears giving you a higher taste of consciousness. Leader - Dariusz Stawicki was born on 10 of December 1975 in Gdansk (Poland). Music is his passion for many years. In the age of seven years began in the school music education programs in piano class. Over the years, his musical passion turned to the electronic music. Inspired by the classic variant decided to explore the possibilities of modern musical instruments. That, together with Dominik "Dodo" Markiewicz, in 1997, he founded the duo Neuron Gates. During meetings they put ideas, some of them was used as background music in advertising and regional television stations TVG and PTK 1, PTK 2 and TVN. Music of Neuron Gates also appeared on 3 CDs, a multimedia presentation. Composed of works chosen from among 11, which were recorded on debut album "Out From The Minds." After few years Dodo leave a project and I Darius decided to create another one with more underground and spiritual electronic music. He met Mantodea who introduced him in to the world of psychedelic culture. That in 2002 Dhuna project was born and become a part of GGOG club and polish psychedelic scene played parties and festivals across the country. The author himself says: The last time a lot has happened. In 2005 I moved to England and here I finished graduate studies in sound engineering. Here also partly new material was created. In 2008 Dhuna released a first album "The Return". In the last 3 years Dhuna explored with new faces: Dariusz Zaczkowski ‘Dziki’ - new percussion instrumentalist. He is strongly influence by multicultural and ethnical music from around the world, including Africa, where he spent some time taking a professional percussion lessons. As a member of “Mendicant” band, during “3 First Cut Awards” tour in Liverpool, Glasgow and Brighton, played as a support band for “The Rumble strip”, also support band for “The Fruttelies”, London. As a “Gaya Sound” he leads regular sound meditations and sound massages with gongs and singing bowls. His performance is based on following instruments: - dundunba, sangban, kenkeni, djembe, kpanlogo drums from Africa - shamanic drums, nadir, darabuka from Middle East countries - gongs and bowls from Nepal and Tibet - didgeridoo Rena Biring ‘Psibindi’ – new vocalist. She is a classically trained singer in Indian Raga. Rena has performed alongside some great artists such as legendary singer Sheila Chandra&Ustad Latafat Ali Khan. As a ‘Psibindi’ she is a Psy-Trance Dj&Vocalist signed to UK based label Aphid Records. Her debut EP ‘Psychic Traveller’ (a collaboration with top producers Aphid Moon & Mechanimal), has now been released on Aphid Records and is available exclusively on Beatport. Now resident Dj for Red Dust collective in Spain – Psibindi has been powering dance floors in Spain and in UK at events such as Acid Monkey, Bom Shanka&Cohesion. Emil Sochacki – new ethnic multi instrumentalist. He started his musical adventure with picking up a guitar at the age of 10. He was a successful guitar player until the age of 20 when he became the owner of an arabic ney flute, which captured his soul. Since then, Emil has been fascinated by the flute and continued playing until he moved to India and fell in love with the Bansuri. He decided to move to London and began studying with Clive Bell at the Bharati Vidya Bhavan. Meanwhile he develop an interest in the Sarangi. Having always been a string intrument player, the sarangi felt like second nature. He decided to devote more time to learn Indian classical music and moved to New Delhi for 6 months, where he was learning with Pandit Rakesh Prasanna, Harsh Wardan and Ustad Nasir Khan. His performance is based on following instruments: - flutes (bansuri, ney) - sarangi, saz - acoustic and electric guitar Together they started working hard with new recordings. They are about to release their forthcoming second studio album 'No Doubt' on Higher Taste Project. Full album will be lunch before Christmas 2011. Please feel free to get in touch. dhuna@dhuna.pl More info: www.dhuna.pl "Dhuna" is a person, which I remember from a few events under the baton of Toga Dansverg and Psychotoons Project, both in summer outdoor (Moondalla festival, beach Smile club) and the "four walls" (GGOG club, the walls of shipbuilding Zion club), where he became fortified with lot of synthesizers etc., providing my (and others) hearing receptors a nice, flowing cross of chillout sound mixed with electronics. At some point, hearing about himself missing, but after some time Darius quite unexpectedly returned with the new album "The Return". I have to admit that Dhuna made piece of good works and his music cannot be accused of anything. On the album consists of a total of eight compositions, of which seven are first-class thoroughbred chillout, and the last of the numbers is an easy perception sympathetic progressive trance, I think milder cuts by 12 Moons, or even Aural Planet of the old days of their faster production. Thanks to contrast with each other and the chillout world of trance you can hear that Dhuna well feel both in imaging more quiet sounds, and as full of dynamism sounds. The whole is very light perception, and the numbers are an ideal backdrop to work at a computer, couch fate and other operations of this type. Also negligible in this merit Helena Janek - Kuśmierczyk, who in turn gave heir voice tracks "Alone", "Fantasy" and "Tutka Mai”. Her soothing vocals perfectly interact with these works and the overall vision of artist. You have to admit that Darius has a talent for creating simple, but enchanting works. The different compositions are not typical chillout balloons, nice on the outside, but empty inside. Of course, with hundreds of thousands of times repeated theme of chillout is hard to squeeze anything new, but the Dhuna productions have a special charm, and not once mouth pressure the text of the polish cult movie "Hydrozagadka": "It is brilliant in its simplicity". In conclusion, the album "The Return" is at the professional level as the other production of this type of sound. If you like a well-constructed chillout, then certainly this disc is for you. What's more, another musical proposals from Higher Taste Project are the most desirable. Templar Read more on Last.fm.
