Deelee is as an acoustic/jazz/pop/blues/soul singer songwriter born and raised in London. She performs as a solo artiste and as a session singer for several renowned artists, producers and musicians. Deelee has performed at several London venues and formed her first band at the age of 14. She studied at the BRIT School, and pursued an academic path. She graduated with a degree in music during which, she also improved her piano playing skills and knowledge of music, she performed before record company A&R's who showed great interest in her voice and songwriting skills. She subsequently went on to perform within several other bands which led on to the development of her solo singing career. As the Daughter to a late great South African Jazz Musician, Deelee has a natural tendency to vocalize jazz standards with an inherent flare, however, this does not limit her versatile ability to perform and appreciate other styles of music with conviction in general.. As a singer, Deelee tends to have a voice quality that is quite stunningly mature and sophisticated, with a wide vocal range that reflects an influential spectrum of styles ranging from vocal greats such as Sarah Vaughan, Eva Cassidy, Nina Simone, Miriam Makeba, Karen Carpenter, Roberta Flack, Minnie Riperton, Joni Mitchell, Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday, amongst others. Deelee's voice often catches the attention of audiences because of it's distinctive quality, and Deelee's sheer precision with words and phrasing expresses her unique delivery of emotion and intonation. Performing is somewhat like breathing to her, and is one of her greatest joys. She is in her element on stage, and also when creating songs and composing music and lyrics. As a songwriter, Deelee's continues to collaborate with a variety emerging producers and musicians, along with her own band (The Dulcet Tones) and is now currently in the process recording her debut album.
